travel tips with littles

My husband and I recently took a trip to Disney with our two little ones, both under 5 years old. I knew it would be a memorable adventure, but it surpassed my expectations in terms of fun! The kids absolutely loved it. I have fond memories of my own visit to Disney at age 5, believing I was meeting real celebrities, and that experience remains one of my most treasured memories as an adult. I highly recommend visiting Disney with children of any age, but here are some tips to make the travel experience smoother.

STROLLER RENTAL

I do not travel with a stroller, which might be an unpopular option, but I do rent strollers that are delivered straight to my resort when I get there. If you are wanting a good travel stroller option I would recommend buying a compact stroller that you can fold up and put in the overhead compartment on the plane so that you have it accessible the whole time. Another option is to take a regular stroller and use gate check. I prefer not to gate check items because it can cause delays if you have a layover. If you are wanting to rent a stroller I recommend the company scooter bug. They have higher quality strollers, they also have mobility scooters and other rentable items. You can rent strollers at the disney park entrance, but they are not the best. I would absolutely recommend either bringing your own or renting through scooter bug ahead of time.

planning your day

Littles get very tired at disney, its very exciting for them, but also wears them out. I recommend planning your day with plenty of breaks so that the little ones can rest when they need to. Its nice to pick a resort with easy access to the parks so you can go back and forth from the park to the resort, you can even buy park hopper tickets if you want to spend the morning at one park and the evening at another. Last time we went we went to the parks early in the day and spent the evening around the resort most of the time.

Rides

There are so many family friendly rides at the disney parks! Kids have so much fun on all the rides and they can be a good way to beat the heat. Make sure to plan your rides with the height requirements in mind so that your little ones are disappointed when they go to get in line and aren’t tall enough. Some very popular rides my littles really enjoyed were Frozen Ever After (very popular, you might want to reserve a lighting lane if you can),Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Peter Pan’s Flight. My 4 year olds favorite ride ended up being Slinky Dog at Hollywood studios!
